It has been quite some time since Apple has launched iTunes match service for the United States users. People have been searching the internet as how to subscribe to iTunes match service. This compelled me on writing an article on how to do it. Hope this is of some use to you guys.
Subscribing to iTunes match is very simple and similar to opening an account in App store or buying in iTunes music. iTunes Match costs you $24.99 a year. With this you can access the online version of your iTunes library through any of your iCloud device like your iPhone, Apple TV, iPod touch or iPad. You can do this without physically being connected to a computer. This is how you do it.
- Make sure that you are using iTunes 10.5.1
- On the left hand corner under the store select iTunes Match. (if you do not find iTunes Match here, you can find it in the quick links section on the right hand corner.)
- Now click on subscribe for $24.99. You will be asked to enter your iTunes password. (you might be shown with a message saying that the Apple’s servers are busy and try subscribing later. If so, do as you are told in the message.)
- Click on iTunes match in the sidebar like what you did while purchasing. You will now see an option to Add your computer. Click on Add computer button.
Step 1: Gathering info about your iTunes library.
This is a scan run by Apple to search the content of your library.
Step 2: Matching your music to iTunes store.
This compares your library with that of iTunes catalogue. The ones that already exist in iTunes are made available immediately in the standard iTunes form.
Step 3: Uploading artwork and remaining songs.
The data that does not match into iTunes library is uploaded so that you can still access it from were ever from the cloud.
